What is an MD5?
An MD5 is short for Message Digest Algorithm 5. It acccepts a message of any length and produces output of fixed length called digest value. The most common uses also include hashing plain text passwords, credit card numbers or other sensitive data for storing in databases and generatng hashes of files to validate using checksum. This tool provides an easy way for you to generate MD5 hash from strings online.
MD5 hashes are one way transaction and it is nearly impossible to reverse engineer an MD5 hash though there are rainbow tables that contain matches of input to md5 outputs. The algorithm generates exactly same output for a given input and is thus widely used to verify integrity of fiels specially one transferred through the internet.
